I often listen to her album, “19“. It is brilliant. I love all of the songs, but every single time my Zen reaches the last song I just have to drop whatever I am doing … and listen … listen to how she describes her passion for the beautiful city that is London.

I am so happy it’s finally summer in Holland! To celebrate, the first Mojitos have been consumped at the beach and the first all night dancing party behind us…

This summer is going to bring a lot more fun: I will be the photographer at the wedding of my dear friends Joep and Manon, still planning a unknown holiday I am saving up for (ideas start to develop, but new ideas and suggestions are always welcome), going to move closer to the city centre (Grote Markt and Plein around the corner!), exciting business opportunities and probably a few more Mojitos

Fifteen years ago I traveled the South-West of the United States with my parents. Of all things impressive, the one thing I remember most was driving through the Mohave desert with this mesmerising synthesizer music in the background. Whether my mam enjoyed it as much, I’m not sure, but I know for sure my dad was very excited by the combination of those mysterious electronic tunes and the breathtaking sight of the countless cacti on the endless sand dunes. I remember him saying: “If Jean Michel Jarre will ever perform in Holland we should really go, his shows are really spectacular!”.

Yesterday I noticed an ad in the NL20 magazine I had picked up in the train: “only few tickets remaining for show in Heineken Music Hall tomorrow by Jean Michel Jarre”. From the moment I read it I knew I had to go. After so many years this was finally the chance to see and hear it for myself.

It was not made easy though: the tickets were quite pricey, none of my friends seemed interested in going (I was even being accused of being queer!), but worst of all, I knew my dad would not be able to join! Despite all that, the show was great! I knew almost every song Jean Michel played and I enjoyed every minute of it. However, I did miss you, dad.

How scary is that? May I ask what is wrong with just having to make a simple choice about which toiletpaper too pick yourself, there and then? Or, (why) do we need so many choices in the first place? And scariest of all, would anybody ever really consider using a brain implant to help with this apparently difficult but vital question?

We are becoming more and more dependant on technology, computers and machines. We invent things to make things easier or improve the quality, but the opposite is many times achieved.

Calculators –> We became bad at mental arithmetic
Texting –> We became bad at spelling
Satellite Navigation –> We don’t look ourselves and get lost without
Social Networking –> We became less social
Sixth Sense –> We will become less sensitive to the other 5 senses?? Or don’t trust our own senses anymore??
